Women’s BWC: Isozaki, Japan shut out Cuba
Japan rebounded from Sunday’s loss to Team USA with a 10-0 shutout to open day four at the Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. On Monday morning at Telus Field the defending world baseball champion scored four runs in the first and in four of the five innings en route to a ten-run rule shortened victory. For Cuba it was the fourth loss in the fourth game.
Women’s BWC: United States use Power to beat World Champion
In a potential medal round prelude Team USA bested defending Women’s Baseball World Champion Japan 5-2 on Sunday evening at Telus Field in Edmonton, Canada. Tamara Holmes led the American offense with three extra base hits, breaking the tie in the fourth. Japan had three professional players in their starting lineup, but couldn’t do much against the pitching of Donna Williams and Jennifer Hunter.
Women’s BWC: Chinese Taipei cruises by Netherlands
Chinese Taipei has its second win at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. They crushed the Netherlands 17-3 in five innings on a sunny Sunday morning at Telus Field. They scored 16 of their 17 runs in the first three frames, highlighted by a pair of six-run rallies in the second and third. The three Dutch runs were their first in the tournament, as they lost their third game.

After having the opening day off at the V Women’s Baseball World Cup defending champion Japan started the tournament at Telus Field in Edmonton, Canada with a 21-0 blowout over the Netherlands. Japan scored nine runs apiece in the first and the fifth to end the contest early after five frames. It was the second loss for the Dutch team in the tournament.
Women’s BWC: Chinese Taipei hands Cuba second Loss
The V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup continued on Saturday morning with a 6-3 victory by Chinese Taipei over Cuba at Telus Field in Edmonton, Canada. Two runs apiece in the second, fourth and sixth lifted the Asians to their first victory in the tournament. They had lost to Canada on opening day. Cuba lost for the second time in as many days.

Host Canada had a perfect start into the V Women’s Baseball World Cup, dispatching Chinese Taipei 12-2 on Friday evening. The Maple Leafs countered an early lead of the Asians with five runs in the first two frames and put the game in the books with seven combined runs in the fourth and fifth. Meagan Cornelssen drove in three, Nicole Luchanski scored three times.

“Madonna Japan”, the Women’s National Baseball Team, started their final training session and exhibition games in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture from August 5, aiming to win 3 consecutive titles at 5th Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton from August 10. They have been stimulated by Gold Medal won by Japanese National Team at the 2012 ISF XIII Women’s World Championship in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada for the first time in 42 years, as well as by the recent great success of Women’s Soccer Team, “Nadeshiko Japan”.

A team from Pakistan will participate in the “Città di Arezzo” tournament for players aged 21 or younger, part of the so called Tuscany Series, one of the main event of youth baseball during the Italian Summer.
JX-ENEOS wins Intercity Championship in Japan
The 89th edition of the Intercity Baseball Championship, that saw 32teams participating, attracted a record 40,000 fans to the final game at Tokyo Dome on July 24 and JX-ENEOS (Yokohama) beat the reigning champion Japan Railways East (Tokyo) 6-3.
