Seoul (Korea). Defending champion Chinese Taipei is going to play for bronze at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship in Seoul, Korea on Saturday. On Friday morning they defeated Colombia 3-1 behind a strong pitching performance. Improving to 3-2 they are still not able to reach the Gold Medal Game due to the tiebreakers following their results from earlier in the tournament against Canada, USA and Japan.

The Nippon Professional Baseball Players Association (NPBPA) announced that players under contract with clubs participating in the japanese Big Leagues will be part of the 2013 World Baseball Classic. NPBA’s spokesman Takahiro Arai broke the news during a press conference at Koshien stadium.

The game was called midway through the bottom of the fifth inning after another rain delay. Japan moves up to the second round, while the Czech team has to settle for a classification game.
